Virtualization or Raw Metal?

(Orginal link: http://blogs.oracle.com/proactivesupportEPM/entry/virtualization_or_raw_metal)

With the growing number of customers who want to run the Oracles EPM/BI (or other Fusion Middleware Software) in a virtualized environment, we face a growing number of people asking if running Oracle Software within VMware is supported or not.

Two KM articles reflect Oracles policy towards the use of VMware:
249212.1 and
1063937.1.

The bottom line is: “you may use it at your own risk, but Oracle does not recommend it”.

So far we have seen few problems with the use of VMware (other than performance and the usual limitations) but Oracle does not certify its software for the use in VMware (and specifically for RAC Software actively refuses any support) and any issue that may occur will be fixed for the native OS only.

It is on the customer to prove that the issue is NOT due to VMware in case that an issue is encountered.

See: “Oracle Fusion Middleware Supported System Configurations page”

And also

“Supported Virtualization and Partitioning Technologies for Oracle Fusion Middleware”

Thanks,
Shiva

2. Make a backup copy of this file before making any changes as you may risk not being able to start BI service
3. Add the following parameters

<Charts>
<SectionSliderDefault>5</SectionSliderDefault>
<SectionSliderLimit>100</SectionSliderLimit>

4. Restart all BI services either from EM or using commands
<MW_HOME>\instances\instance1\bin\opmnctl stopall
<MW_HOME>\instances\instance1\bin\opmnctl startall.

We all know that we need to create RCU schemas before starting OBIEE 11G (In fact, for any Fusion Middleware application) Installation. Because it is the base store for FMW.

Recently I came across a scenario where my customer created RCU schemas with Oracle Repository Creation Utility (RCU) version 11.1.1.3.0 and Installed OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0. Now after new OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 release he wants to upgrade his application from 11.1.1.3.0. But he is not interested at the In-place upgrade. So we uninstalled weblogic and OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0 and started RCU 11.1.1.3.0 to drop the _BIPLATFORM and _MDS schemas.

The RCU shown up with successful message and so we thought everything is cleaned up and it’s good to create schemas again. I started RCU 11.1.1.5.0 and selected Oracle Business Intelligence component and given prefix as DEV. But am not able to assign this prefix and got a message like “The specified prefix already exists”. Though I got successful dropped schemas message, just for cross check I looked at database for the DEV_BIPLATFORM and DEV_MDS schemas. There I am not seeing any of them.

Then I checked at dropped schemas log generated by RCU and realized that there is an entry in System.SCHEMA_VERSION_REGISTRY$ table which is stopping me to assign the same DEV prefix which we used for earlier version schemas.

Actually the RCU should drop schemas using mdsschemamanager.pl script. This script has capability to do cascade delete and will delete entries in System.SCHEMA_VERSION_REGISTRY$ table.

To make sure this log into RCU DATABASE as sys and run the following SQL Query:

Select * from System.SCHEMA_VERSION_REGISTRY$;

If this query returns any record then it means the RCU didn’t drop the schemas properly.

Actually what happened in this case is the RCU schemas were not dropped using mdsschemamanager.pl script, it’s just dropped with normal schema delete and the resulting repository record for the schema is not clean. Keep in mind, this is just in case if you want to use same prefix. Otherwise RCU will let you proceed to create new prefixed Schemas.

If the RCU schemas have been deleted incorrectly using the RCU drop user command, then We need to clean these entries before starting new repository schemas creation.

To do this, run the following SQL*Plus command as sys to complete the removal of the RCU schemas records in the repository database:

delete from System.SCHEMA_VERSION_REGISTRY$;

Once you confirmed there are no entries in System.SCHEMA_VERSION_REGISTRY$ table and start the RCU to create repository schemas with the prefix (DEV in my case). The RCU will go smooth and wont complain with any error.

Hope this helps you in your RCU issues troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Shiva

In my other blog post (http://shivabizint.wordpress.com/2011/06/19/bi-publisher-usage-tracking-in-obiee-11g/) I have posted a nice video on BI Publisher Usage tracking. After this I have been asked by many of our friends to know how this can be get in action. while I am preparing to write the steps for this, I have found a great article by Kan Nishida from blogs.oracle.com on same job.For the benifit of readers am sharing the same steps illustrated by him.

With Fusion Middleware Audit Framework you have an option to store the auditing data into a database instead of a log file, which is the default option. Once you enable the database storage option, that means you have your auditing data (or, user report access data) in your database tables, now no brainer, you can start visualize the data, create reports, analyze, and share with BI Publisher.

So, first, let’s take a look on how to enable the database storage option for the auditing data.

How to Feed the Auditing Data into Database

First you need to create a database schema for Fusion Middleware Audit Framework with RCU (Repository Creation Utility). If you have already installed BI Publisher 11G you should be familiar with this RCU. It creates any database schema necessary to run any Fusion Middleware products including BI stuff. And you can use the same RCU that you used for your BI or BI Publisher installation to create this Audit schema.

Create Audit Schema with RCU

Here are the steps:

Go to $RCU_HOME/bin and execute the ‘rcu’ command

Choose Create at the starting screen and click Next.

Enter your database details and click Next.

Choose the option to create a new prefix, for example ‘BIP’, ‘KAN’, etc.

Select ‘Audit Services’ from the list of schemas.

Click Next and accept the tablespace creation.

Click Finish to start the process.

After this, there should be following three Audit related schema created in your database.

<prefix>_IAU (e.g. KAN_IAU)

<prefix>_IAU_APPEND (e.g. KAN_IAU_APPEND)

<prefix>_IAU_VIEWER (e.g. KAN_IAU_VIEWER)

Setup Datasource at WebLogic

After you create a database schema for your auditing data, now you need to create a JDBC connection on your WebLogic Server so the Audit Framework can access to the database schema that was created with the RCU with the previous step.

Connect to the Oracle WebLogic Server administration console:
http://hostname:port/console (e.g. http://report.oracle.com:7001/console)

Under Services, click the Data Sources link.

Click ‘Lock & Edit’ so that you can make changes

Click New –> ‘Generic Datasource’ to create a new data source.

Enter the following details for the new data source:
Name: Enter a name such as Audit Data Source-0.
JNDI Name: jdbc/AuditDB
Database Type: Oracle

Click Next and select ‘Oracle’s Driver (Thin XA) Versions: 9.0.1 or later’ as Database Driver (if you’re using Oracle database), and click Next.

The Connection Properties page appears. Enter the following information:
Database Name: Enter the name of the database (SID) to which you will connect.
Host Name: Enter the hostname of the database.
Port: Enter the database port.
Database User Name: This is the name of the audit schema that you created in
RCU. The suffix is always IAU for the audit schema. For example, if you gave
the prefix as ‘BIP’, then the schema name would be ‘KAN_IAU’.
Password: This is the password for the audit schema that you created in RCU.

Click Next.

Accept the defaults, and click Test Configuration to verify the connection.

Click Next

Check listed servers where you want to make this JDBC connection available.

Click ‘Finish’ !

After that, make sure you click ‘Activate Changes’ at the left hand side top to take the new JDBC connection in effect.

Register your Audit Data Storing Database to your Domain

Finally, you can register the JNDI/JDBC datasource as your Auditing data storage with Fusion Middleware Control (EM). Here are the steps:

1. Login to Fusion Middleware Control

2. Navigate to Weblogic Domain, right click on ‘bifoundation…..’, select Security, then Audit Store.

3. Click the searchlight icon next to the Datasource JNDI Name field.

4.Select the Audit JNDI/JDBC datasource you created in the previous step in the pop-up window and click OK.

5. Click Apply to continue.

6. Restart the whole WebLogic Servers in the domain.

After this, now the BI Publisher should start feeding all the auditing data into the database table called ‘IAU_BASE’. Try login to BI Publisher and open a couple of reports, you should see the activity audited in the ‘IAU_BASE’ table. If not working, you might want to check the log file, which is located at $BI_HOME/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/AdminServer/logs/AdminServer-diagnostic.log

to see if there is any error.

Once you have the data in the database table, now, it’s time to visualize with BI Publisher reports!

Create a First BI Publisher Auditing Report

Register Auditing Datasource as JNDI datasource

First thing you need to do is to register the audit datasource (JNDI/JDBC connection) you created in the previous step as JNDI data source at BI Publisher. It is a JDBC connection registered as JNDI, that means you don’t need to create a new JDBC connection by typing the connection URL, username/password, etc. You can just register it using the JNDI name. (e.g. jdbc/AuditDB)

Login to BI Publisher as Administrator (e.g. weblogic)

Go to Administration Page

Click ‘JNDI Connection’ under Data Sources and Click ‘New’

Type Data Source Name and JNDI Name. The JNDI Name is the one you created in the WebLogic Console as the auditing datasource. (e.g. jdbc/AuditDB)

Click ‘Test Connection’ to make sure the datasource connection works.

Provide appropriate roles so that the report developers or viewers can share this data source to view reports.

Click ‘Apply’ to save.

Create Data Model

Select Data Model from the tool bar menu ‘New’

Set ‘Default Data Source’ to the audit JNDI data source you have created in the previous step.

Select ‘SQL Query’ for your data set

Use Query Builder to build a query or just type a sql query. Either way, the table you want to report against is ‘IAU_BASE’. This IAU_BASE table contains all the auditing data for other products running on the WebLogic Server such as JPS, OID, etc. So, if you care only specific to BI Publisher then you want to filter by using ‘IAU_COMPONENTTYPE’ column which contains the product name (e.g. ’xmlpserver’ for BI Publisher).

Here is my sample sql query.

select     “IAU_BASE”.”IAU_COMPONENTTYPE” as “IAU_COMPONENTTYPE”,
“IAU_BASE”.”IAU_EVENTTYPE” as “IAU_EVENTTYPE”,
“IAU_BASE”.”IAU_EVENTCATEGORY” as “IAU_EVENTCATEGORY”,
“IAU_BASE”.”IAU_TSTZORIGINATING” as “IAU_TSTZORIGINATING”,
to_char(“IAU_TSTZORIGINATING”, ‘YYYY-MM-DD’) IAU_DATE,
to_char(“IAU_TSTZORIGINATING”, ‘DAY’) as IAU_DAY,
to_char(“IAU_TSTZORIGINATING”, ‘HH24′) as IAU_HH24,
to_char(“IAU_TSTZORIGINATING”, ‘WW’) as IAU_WEEK_OF_YEAR,
“IAU_BASE”.”IAU_INITIATOR” as “IAU_INITIATOR”,
“IAU_BASE”.”IAU_RESOURCE” as “IAU_RESOURCE”,
“IAU_BASE”.”IAU_TARGET” as “IAU_TARGET”,
“IAU_BASE”.”IAU_MESSAGETEXT” as “IAU_MESSAGETEXT”,
“IAU_BASE”.”IAU_FAILURECODE” as “IAU_FAILURECODE”,
“IAU_BASE”.”IAU_REMOTEIP” as “IAU_REMOTEIP”
from    “KAN3_IAU”.”IAU_BASE” “IAU_BASE”
where “IAU_BASE”.”IAU_COMPONENTTYPE” = ‘xmlpserver’

Once you saved a sample XML for this data model, now you can create a report with this data model.

Create Report

Now you can use one of the BI Publisher’s layout options to design the report layout and visualize the auditing data. I’m a big fan of Online Layout Editor, it’s just so easy and simple to create reports, and on top of that, all the reports created with Online Layout Editor has the Interactive View with automatic data linking and filtering feature without any setting or coding. If you haven’t checked the Interactive View or Online Layout Editor you might want to check these previous blog posts. (Interactive Reporting with BI Publisher 11G, Interactive Master Detail Report Just A Few Clicks Away!) But of course, you can use other layout design option such as RTF template.

Here are some sample screenshots of my report design with Online Layout Editor.

Visualize and Gain More Insights about your Customers (Users) !

Now you can visualize your auditing data to have better understanding and gain more insights about your reporting environment you manage. It’s been actually helping me personally to answer the questios like below.

How many reports are accessed or opened yesterday, today, last week ?

Who is accessing which report at what time ?

What are the time windows when the most of the reports access happening ?

What are the most viewed reports ?

Who are the active users ?

What are the # of reports access or user access trend for the last month, last 6 months, last 12 months, etc ?

I was talking with one of the best concierge in the world at this hotel the other day, and he was telling me that the best concierge knows about their customers inside-out therefore they can provide a very private service that is customized to each customer to meet each customer’s specific needs. Well, this is true when it comes to how to administrate and manage your reporting environment, right ? The best way to serve your customers (report users, including both viewers and developers) is to understand how they use, what they use, when they use. Auditing is not just about compliance, but it’s the way to improve the customer service. The BI Publisher 11G Auditing feature enables just that to help you understand your customers better.

Happy customer service, be the best reporting concierge!.

In OBIEE 11G if we look at Session logs, we will see a new status called ‘DXE Execution’ with amount of time its been executed. I did some research on this to answer my burning questions ‘ What this new alien will do? and How it is helpful for Performance tuning?.

Then I founded interesting news about this and actually the DXE Execution means “Data Transformation Engine which handles post-processing of the BIServer results within OBIPS”.

The post-processing can involve resorting, filtering, aggregating, and/or indexing the original BIServer result set so that the data can be consumed by a view’s renderer. And It can be automatically kicked off when the BIServer query finishes.

So if the DXE Execution is running long time, Then it’s time to open your arms to tune your report UI/Presentation Server.

Of course if the sql query is taking long time, We know how to tune DB(A)’s .

Thanks,

Shiva.

If you want to display OBIEE 11G content in any other portals using IFrames, You will end up with a message “OBIEE content cannot be displayed in an IFrame”. Because In OBIEE 11G, Oracle added framebusting check, to avoid the clickhacking security atatck.

To control the IFrame rendering we need to add the following tags in instanceconfig.xml within security key and restart the OBI Presentation Service.

<Security>

<InIFrameRenderingMode>allow</InIFrameRenderingMode>

</Security>

OBIEE 11G support 3 modes of IFrame bursting checks

1. prohibit: Never allow OBIEE 11G content to be rendered in IFrame.

2. sameDomainOnly: Allow rendering in IFrame if enclosing page was generated by the server in same domain.

3. allow: Always allows in-IFrame rendering.

So based on your requirement you need to change/add the IFrame bursting configurations to your OBI Presentation Server.

Thanks,

Shiva

After you migrate your RPD and Web Catalog t new environment,it is best practice to update the user GUIDs. If the same user name exists in both directory servers (original and new), then the original user GUID might conflict with the user GUID that is contained in new directory server. A refresh forces the system to reference the user GUID that is contained in the new directory server. Authentication errors might result if the GUIDs are not refreshed and the system detects a mismatch for the user GUID. And even after GUIDS referesh OBIEE 11g System will cache the UserID in webcatalog and always the cached ID will be callup instead of new GUID for User.This wrong GUID calling will leads to Authentication failure errors. Sometimes we can delete the user and recreate to solve this. But, This recreation of same user again miss its ID reference for Catalog objects.And We will end up with Missing My Folders and other objects. Because OBIEE 11G maps the RPD objects and Catalog objects based on system assigned GUID.To solve this we need to validate the Useraccounts to map the OBIEE RPD and Catalog object links.

To do this perform the following steps

1) Backup Instanceconfig.xml file from location:

<Middleware_HOME>\instances\instance1\config\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\

coreapplication_obips1\instanceconfig.xml

2) Open instanceconfig.xml, And update it with the content specified as following:

<Catalog>

<UpgradeAndExit>false</UpgradeAndExit>

<Validate>OnStartup</Validate>

<ValidateItems>None</ValidateItems>

<ValidateLinks>None</ValidateLinks>

<ValidateAccounts>Clean</ValidateAccounts>

<ValidateHomes>None</ValidateHomes>

</Catalog>

3) Save the file and re-start all of the BI Services through Enterprise Manager.

4) Now yo should be able to login to OBIEE 11g and you can see all your artifacts like My Folder content.

Once resolved, dont forget to remove the settings used to clean up the Cached catalog accounts in instanceconfig.xml. Restart the services. Test the login to make sure there are no issues.

Thanks,

Shiva

out-of-place upgrade : This is quite simply installing new OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 by uninstalling 11.1.1.3.0 or maintaining two Middleware homes.

in-place upgrade : This upgrade operates on existing files. Moving from one 11g release to another 11g release. The advantage of this is we can still have custom configurations which are configured in 11.1.1.3.0 version. Because technically this just upgrade the new BI binaries not the configurations.

As you all know how to do the out-of-place upgrade. Today am going to explain about in-place upgrade.

Here are the basic steps of the ‘in-place upgrade’. And also you can find the upgrade document @ http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/bi.1111/e16452/bi_plan.htm#BABECJJH

Download the appropriate Product Installers

Patch Oracle WebLogic Server to the latest version (10.3.5)

Run the Oracle BI Product Installer, and perform a Software Only installation, specifying the existing Middleware home to be upgraded.

Run the Patch Set Assistant for each of the Oracle BI schemas created with RCU.

Upgrade BI system components

Update Fusion Middleware Shared Libraries

Update configurations and stores

Upgrade code grants (that is, security policy artifacts) for Oracle BI

Upgrade OBIEE catalogs

Start servers and processes.

Before you start perform the following general pre-upgrade tasks:

Stop all WebLogic Servers, Node Manager, OPMN, and OPMN-managed system components that are part of all Oracle BI domains that use the Middleware Home that you must upgrade.On Windows systems, also stop the component that is called Oracle WebLogic NodeManager (name).

Back up directories.

Patch Oracle WebLogic Server to the latest version (10.3.5):

With OBIEE 11.1.1.3.0 installation we will have WebLogic Server (WLS) is 10.3.3. But the new OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 requires weblogic 10.3.5. so you need to upgrade this to 10.3.5 before installing/upgrading OBIEE. In order to upgrade weblogic you will need this 10.3.5 upgrade version of WLS, which you can download from Oracle Metalink site.

Upgrade WebLogic Server

1. After unzip the downloaded file, launch wls1035_upgrade_generic.jar if you’re on Windows 64bit family.(e.g.: java –jar wls1035_upgrade_generic.jar)

2. Accept all the default values and keep ‘Next’ till end, and start the upgrade.

Once the upgrade process completes you’ll see the following window. But don’t select Run QuickStart checkbox and click Done button.

Run the Oracle BI Product Installer, and perform Software Only installation:

Download the OBIEE 11.1.1.5 version from OTN page.

1. Launch the installer by double click ‘setup.exe’ (for Windows)

2. Select ‘Software Only Install’ option

3. Select your original Middleware Home where you installed OBIEE 11.1.1.3.

4. Click ‘Install’ button to start the installation.

This upgrades the OBIEE System to 11.1.1.5.0 from 11.1.1.3.0

Run the Patch Set Assistant for each of the Oracle BI schemas created with RCU:

You need to upgrade the BIPLATFORM and MDS Schemas. Run the Patch Set Assistant for each of the Oracle BI schemas created with RCU.Update the MDS schema first.

MDS

BIPLATFORM

Upgrade MDS schema:

psa.bat -dbConnectString Shivapc:1521:orcl -dbaUserName sys -schemaUserName DEV_MDS

Upgrade BIPLATFORM schema:

psa.bat -dbConnectString Shivapc:1521:orcl -dbaUserName sys -schemaUserName DEV_BIPLATFORM

Upgrade BI system components:

This step is required for any system component that is associated with a WebLogic domain.

After you have patched your system component software that is associated with a WebLogic domain, you must run E:\MW\Oracle_BI1\opmn\bin\upgradenonj2eeapp.bat (on Windows operating systems) script to update your system components.

Before running this script, make sure:

The Administration Server is up and running.

The OPMN instance in the bin directory in the Instance home is up and running.

Here is the syntax for the ‘upgradenonj2eeapp.bat command.

upgradenonj2eeapp.bat
-oracleInstance Instance_Home_Location
-adminHost WebLogic_Server_Host_Name
-adminPort administration_server_port_number
-adminUsername administration_server_user

And here is an example:

cd E:\MW\Oracle_BI1\opmn\bin
upgradenonj2eeapp.bat -oracleInstance E:\MW\instances\instance1 -adminHost Shivapc -adminPort 7001 -adminUsername weblogic

Update Fusion Middleware Shared Libraries:

Upgrade Shared Library (JRF)

For each WebLogic Server domain, you must run the updateJRF() WLST command to update the shared libraries in your domain. Before you do this, you need to stop all running instances, Managed Servers, Administration Server, and Node Manager in the domain.

Here is an example of the ‘upgradeJRF()’ command:

cd E:\MW\oracle_common\common\binwlst.cmdupgradeJRF(‘ E:/MW/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain’)

Upgrade Fusion Middleware Security (OPSS)

For each WebLogic Server domain, you must run the upgradeOpss() WLST command to update your configurations and stores from previous releases to Release 11.1.1.5.0 configurations and stores using a system-jazn-data file in Release 11.1.1.5.0. You can use ‘upgradeOpss()’ WLST command. Here is a syntax for the command.

upgradeOpss(jpsConfig=”existing_jps_config_file”, jaznData=”system_jazn_data_file”)

The ‘existing jps-config.xml file can be found under E:\MW\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\config\fmwconfig\jps-config.xml and the ‘system_jazn_data_file’ can be found under E:\MW\oracle_common\modules\oracle.jps_11.1.1\domain_config\system-jazn-data.xml.

And here is an example:

cd E:\MW\oracle_common\common\binwlst.cmdupgradeOpss(jpsConfig=”E:\MW\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\config\fmwconfig\jps-config.xml”, jaznData=”E:\MW\oracle_common\modules\oracle.jps_11.1.1\domain_config\system-jazn-data.xml”)exit()

Upgrade Code Grants for Oracle BI Domain

If you are updating to the latest version of Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) from Release 11.1.1.3.0, you must run the bi-upgrade.py script in each Oracle BI domain. This script configures the code grants necessary to ensure that SSL works correctly for Oracle BI, and must be run even if SSL is not used. And if you have multiple BI domains (Enterprise deployment) then you need to run this on each domain.

Here is an example:

cd E:\MW\oracle_common\common\binwlst E:\MW\Oracle_BI1\bin\bi-upgrade.py –bioraclehome E:\MW\Oracle_BI1 –domainhome E:\MW\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain

Upgrade OWSM Policy Repository

This is to upgrade OWSM (Oracle Web Service Manager) policy repository, you can use WLST command ‘upgradeWSMPolicyRepository()’. In order to run this command you need to have your WebLogic Server up-and-running. Here is an example.

cd E:\MW\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\binstopWebLogic.cmdcd E:\MW\oracle_common\common\binwlst.cmd
connect (‘weblogic’,'weblogic14′,’t3://Shivapc:7001′)
upgradeWSMPolicyRepository()exit()

Upgrade OBIEE catalogs:

When updating your Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) software from Release 11.1.1.3.0 to 11.1.1.5.0, you must manually update your Oracle BI Presentation Catalogs. Instructions are provided below:

Shut down Oracle BI Presentation Services using Oracle Enterprise Manager.

Back up your Release 11.1.1.3.0 catalogs by using the 7-Zip utility to create a compressed file for it.

Create a backup copy of the
instanceconfig.xml
file.

The
instanceconfig.xml
file is located in the E:\MWH\instances\instance1\config\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\ coreapplication_obips1.

Change the
upgradeAndExit
option to
true
in the
instanceconfig.xml
file.

Find the following code:

<ps:Catalog xmlns:ps=”oracle.bi.presentation.services/config/v1.1″>

   <ps:UpgradeAndExit>false</ps:UpgradeAndExit>
</ps:Catalog>

Change it to the following:

<ps:Catalog xmlns:ps="oracle.bi.presentation.services/config/v1.1">
   <ps:UpgradeAndExit>true</ps:UpgradeAndExit>
</ps:Catalog>

Start Oracle BI Presentation Services using the following OPMN command the update the catalogs:

opmnctl startproc ias-component=coreapplication_obips1

For example, On a Windows operating system:

cd E:\MW\instances\instance1\bin
opmnctl startproc ias-component=coreapplication_obips1

After the catalogs are updated, edit the
instanceconfig.xml
file again and change the
upgradeAndExit
option back to
false
.

Restart Oracle BI Presentation Services using Fusion Middleware Control.

Login to analytics and make sure it’s working fine.

Thanks,

In OBIEE 10g to configure default Graph series colors we used to configure the \OracleBI\web\app\res\s_{StyleName}\chartsupport\palette.cxml file. The same we can configure in our OBIEE 11g Application by adding the series of Items colors in <MW_HOME>\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\msgdb\s_blafp\viewui\chart\dvt-graph-skin.xml after </SliceLabel> as shown below:

<Graph>

<SliceLabel>

   <!– decimalDigitUsed is false here so that non-percentage pie slices do not pick up this value

        The DVTChartProcessor sets decimalDigitUsed to true if this is a percentage pie slice –>

   <ViewFormat decimalDigit=”2″ decimalDigitUsed=”false”/>

</SliceLabel>

<SeriesItems>

<Series id=”0″ color=”#ff0000″ borderColor=”# ff0000″/>

<Series id=”1″ color=”#00ff00″ borderColor=”#00ff00″/>

<Series id=”2″ color=”#0000ff” borderColor=”#0000ff”/>

</SeriesItems>

</Graph>

You need to add the extra series values depends on no.of series or default colors you want to configure.

Thanks,
